An offer which enabled the M ellingtou Hospital Board to take advantage of the city control of the milk supply has been accepted for a term of one year from February 1- The offer was made by tfie general manager ot the .Wellington City Corporation s milk department. In making xefeience to the matter at Thursday’s meeting of the Hospital Board, the chairman (Mr F. Castle) stated that for some years thg bbard had been purchasing its supply from Mr. W. T. Strand, of Lower Hutt. The conditions of that supply had been very satisfactory as to price and quality, as well as m other ways. Mr. Strang had intimated that ’he desired to see the Citv Council supplying the Hospital with milk. Under the new offer the price was satisfactory—ls. 4d. per gallon for ' milk delivered at the various institutions of the board., nnd 10s. per gallon for cream. Dr. W. E. Herbert pointed out that the milk under the new scheme would be submitted to a double inspection. The decision of the board was one of the most important that had been made. The above rennrt should prompt those who/are uninsured to call on the Auatralian Provincial Assurance Assn.. Ltd. (A.P.A.), without further delay.— Advt. During Eastbourne ferry steamer Duchess carried 34 282 pan-, rengers, compared with 29,477 for the corresponding month of last year, ahe Cobar’s figures ivere respectively 24 673 and 20.015. The Duchess steamed 1560 miles in 104 round trips, and the Cobar 2325 in 155 journeys. The boiler of the Cobar was blown down on November 14, and the hull cleaned and painted The coal consumption was.slightly heavier for the month on account of' the dirty hull and the bad weather which frequently necessitated longer trips. The Duchess is to go on tho slip for cleaning 1 and painting next month. Baigent has taken up his duties with the Borough Council. HOW STUDEBAKER. PRICES HAVE KEPT PACE VUTH TOE TIMES. It is part of the settled business policy of Messrs. Adams. Ltd., to reduce the prices of Studebaker motorcars whenever circumstances permit. During thp last twelve months or, so circumstances have been favourable to frequent price reductions. Tho prices of raw materials, factory costs, and Freights have all been reduced, and there has "been a continued and steady . Improvement in the dollar exchange rvtq-. The advantage of all these favourable movements has been handed on to the public at the earnest possible moment in each case. To enumerate the various stages by which {Studebaker prices in New Zealand (have been stepped down to their present low level is unnecessary, but a IpUe comparison with the prices about n vear ago and those ruling to-day will show how substantial have been th" reductions. The Studebaker Light. Six (tonnng model) has been reduced from £675 to £455 —» drop of £290. The Studebaker Light Six (roadster with colonial body) has been reduced from £7OO £4Bs—a drop of £215. Studebaker Light Six Sedan has been reduced From £875 to £6B5 —a drop of £l9O. Studebaker Light Six Coupe has been reduced from £B5O to £sBs—a drop of £265. The Studebaker Special Six (touting model) has been reduced from £775 to £sBs—a drop of £l9O. The Studebaker Big Six (touring model) has been reduced from £895 to £<Ws—-a drop of £2lO. Those changes, accomplished in the short space of about twelve, months, are, we think, a very convincing guarantee that Adams. Ltd., are in earnest in their desire to get Studebaker motor-cars back io the pre-war price level. Adanisl Ltd., N.Z. Agents for Studebaker motors, Christchurch.
