ACtION OF MANAGEMENT UPHELD. (Rec. September 28, 10.20 p-m.) Sydney, September 28. A conference hold between the Shipping Tribunal, the Federated Society of Boilermailers, and the management of Cockatoo Island discussed the dismissal of the boilermakers for refusing t-o work riveting machines. The men asked the tribunal to give a decision whether the management had violated the shipbuilding agreement between the Federal Government and the boilermakers by dismissing a number of men from new work owing to a difference over repair work and the use of pneumatic tools. Tho tribunal upheld tho management, stating that the latter acted within its province in dismissing the infen. The men will discuss resumption at a meeting on Tuesday.—Press Assn.
