NEW SOUTH SEA BUBBLE
NEWSPAPER INSURANCE CRAZE. (Roc. September 29, 5.5 p.m.) London, September 28. Tile “Standard" states that tho newspaper insurance craze has reached the stage of a new South Sea bubble, and probably will burst soon, leaving a nasty odour behind. The “Standard.” declares that the insurance companies are sick of the business. None of them continue beyond their present contracts. The companies are flooded with bogus claims, with the result that newspaper insurance is ending disastrously for the newspapers and the public, and liquidation must bring a certain stigma on otherwise reputable journalism.—Aus.-N.Z.
