PURCHASE OF MATERIAL FOR CITY USE For years past members of the City Council have protested against the manner in which the corporation purchases its requirements, and several attempts to alter the system have been made. Now the council proposes to put things on a better basis by setting up a stores department, under an expert buyer, whose duty it will be to buy the material and goods required as economically as possible. This was decided at the council meeting yesterday, when it was resolved, on the motion of Couiicillor J. Burns, seconded by Councillor C. H. Chapman, “That the Finance Committee report on the matter of establishing a stores department for the whole of the city’s purposes.”
