A LOAN LATER ON Councillor T.’ Forsyth- asked the Mayor last evening whether any steps had been taken towards raising a loan to clear off the ' city’s antecedent liability. The Mayor stated that the amount of the liability had. to be rewflered to the Minister to-day (June 30), and that authority would then bg given to the City Council to float the loan. t\.s a matter of fact he was not anxious to raise the loan at present, but proposed to wait until two or three months before tho end’ of the financial year in order to save the payment of interest.
