THE TWO OPPOSITIONS COMPETING MR. HOLLAND’S MOTION The terms of tho want-of-confidcnco motion that is to bo moved by tho Leader of the Opposition (Air. Wilford) next week when tho Addrcss-in-Reply debate has been opened have not boon announced. Tho Leader of tho Labour Party (Air. Holland) is going to move his waht-of-confidenco motion on the Imprest Supply Bill to-morrow. He is spreading his net wide, but it does not follow-that he will be able to lead the Liberals and Independents into tho lobby with him. Tho text of his motion is as follows:— “This House expresses the opinion that as the latest figures reveal there has been no fall in the cost of living as between Alarch, 1920, and Alarch, 1922, tho Government was not warranted in reducing tho salaries of tl;0 Public servants; therefore, restitution should bo made at least to the lowerpaid employees. It should be immediately announced that there I’4ll he no further reduction of Public Service salaries in July. "This House disapproves of thejlovernment’s attitude towards the members of fihe Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association because of their perfectly constitutional decision to affiliate with the Alliance of Labour, every affiliation of which is duly registered under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act.

"This House condemns the Government for its failure to deal effectively with the problem of unemployment.”
