The president of the Christchurch Jewish congregation has received the following cablegram from London:— “Tho terrible crisis in East European Jewry makes a fresh appeal necessary by the united relief organisations of Groat Britain. A million co-religion-ists are in toe grip of starvation and pestilence; over a hundred thousand homeless orphans. Dr. Nansen, High Commissioner, League of Nations, telegraphs: ‘Situation desperate among Jewish population. Immediate large foreign relief necessary ’ Help us avert an appalling catastrophe. Hope for the immediate, energetic co-opera-tion of all Jews in the British Empire.—(Signed) Chief Rabbi, Lisnel de Rothehild, Lord Sway tiding, Claude Alontcfiore, Lord Rothschild.”
