MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of the AVellington Education Board w'as held on Thursday. Present: Messrs. T. Forsyth (chairman), T. Moss, W. T. Grundy, R. McCallum, M.P., G. London, A. J. AVhite, J. J. Clark, D. Rishworth, R. A. AVright, M.P., and AV. H. Field, M.P. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. E. H. Penny. . ' The board declined to "rant a right-of-way over town acre 1050. The work of the Young Citizens’ League wa s commended to teachers and committees. Mr. G. London was accorded a vote of thanks for a number of parts of Harmsworth’s Atlas. The’receipts since last meeting totalled £30,554 3s. Bd. I'he Government grants due amounted to £11,614. ’The payme: ts authorised were £32,484 14s. Id., and the overdraft on current account £2538 2s. 9d. No advice had been received as to the grant lor maintenance of school buildings, which was £11,960 for 1921. A conference of directors and supervisors of technical schools and manual training classes is to be held next month. The date of elections for school committees which were not elected,o:l Monday last was fixed for May '?2, at 7.30 p.m. The hoard decided to make ' representations t-o the Department in regard to complaints from the Muritai School that, although the attendance had increased by leaps and bounds and the grade of tho school raised, they received no increase in salaries.
