BY telegraph—press association. —COPYRIGHT. Summer-time began in Britain, France, and Belgium on Friday last. A London message reports the death of Father Hopkins, “the Sailors’ Apostle.” He was prominently identified with the Sailors and Firemen’s Union. A message from Belgrade to the London “Times” reports an earthquake shock throughout Serbia. Much damage was done to an hotel. The Post Office at Arangelovatz collapsed- Several people were killed and many injured.
The San Francisco correspondent of the “New York World” states that Roscoe Arbuckle has revealed that his private fortune has gone as the result of the tremendous expenditure for his defence. He received an ornately decorated cheque-book on the occasion of his 35th birthday, but said ruefully that ho had not enough money now to write one cheque, much less tho whole book full. Arbuckle was formally a lavish spender, and lived in extreme luxury, but at present he is - living quietly. ( ,
