LEAGUE FOOTBALL
LOCAL TEAM FOR AUCKLAND’ MATCH. On Saturday a trial game was played at Newtown Park for the selection of a team to represent Wellington against Auckland, at Auckland, next Saturday. The A team was successful by 13 points to 10, after a very fust and open game. The following team was selected to make the trip:— Full-back: A. Jessop (Wst. 61b ). Three-quarters: ; S. Brace (9st.), J. Shanahan (12st.), K. Thompson (10st. 81b.). Five-eighths: "Doe" Nicholls (test.), F. Nunn (list.). Half-back: J. Kruse (list.). Forwards: J. Williams (12st. Gib.). H. Harvev (13st.). R. Shanahan (12st. Gib.). O. Haddock (15st.), A. Lo Warne (13st.), H. Zimmerman (list.). Tlmorgoncies: A. Withey (lOst.) and W. Hedges (13st. 61b.). "Reserves: Jacobson and Prooostel. Wilson, H. Nunn, Dobson, Tetley, and Baulks were not available for selection. Tho team will train at Kilbirnie on Monday night at 7.30, and on Tuesday night at Petono, the town players leaving by the 7.10 train. THE AUCKLAND TEAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Emergencies—Backs. Newdick; forwards, Paki. In tho Roope Rooster semi-final City beat Ponsonby by 8 points to 5. Tn the junior grade on Saturday, Citymet and defeated Pctone West at Newtown Park by 131 points to 3. Mr. I’’. Evans was referee.
