NEW. CONCERTS SCHEME. There was a fair assemblage of professional and amateur musicians at the Conference Hall of tho Now Zealand Termers' Institute on Saturday evening, when matters of interest to the Wellington Socictv of Musicians were discussed. In tho absence of Mr. Robert Parker, Mr Laurence Watkins introduced the aims of the society to the meeting, and later in the evening the president (Mr. Horace Hunt) stated that the society proposed co embark on a new scheme of public concerts, of a special nature. Each concert, he said, would be devoted to the works of a particular composer, or to some outstanding phase of musioTho first two concerts would bo devoted to the compositions of Edward Grieg and Elgar. Messrs. Robert Parker and the speaker would give the first coneerh and Messrs. Temple White and C. W. Heery the second. . During the evening musical items were given bv Mr. and Mrs. Tombs. Messrs. Rulo and Cook (string quartet, Borodino “Sonata”). Miss Anderson (violin solo), Mr H. Hunt (piano solo), and Messrs. Hamilton Hodges and Reginald Blow (songs). Officers were elected ns follow •’-President. Mr. Horace Hunt; vicepresidents. Messrs. Robert Parker and Temple White; hon. treasurer, Mr.’Courtenay Greer; hon. secretary, Mr. W. J.
