GAMING COMMISSION
ISSUE OF THE REPORT. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. Downie Stewart) gave a contradiction yesterday to a statement made by the. Rev. J. J. North that the report of the Gaming Commission was being held back for consideration by the Racing Conference, which will shortly meet in Wellington. The Minister said that the report had not yet been placed before Catenet It would be for Cabinet to .decide what should lie done with the recommendations of the commission, and when the report should be made public. It is not improbable that the report will be held by the Government for pro* gentation to Parliament after the open, ing of the session in September A pro mL was given to Parliament hat members would have an opportumty to r* view the recommendations of the com mission regarding the issue of extra totalizator permits before any decisive action was taken.
