The "Tribune’s” correspondent, at Washington states that President Harding will not call a disarmament conference until there is a thorough understanding and a very definite agreement made in secret between representatives of Britain, Japan, and America, this in spite of the Administration's satisfaction ;with Mr. Lloyd George's statement that Britain, is anxious for a disarmament more.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Washington, Juno 22.
A committee bearing a petition signed by 20,503 clergymen, Protestants, Catholics. and Jews, called on President. Harding, and urged that tho time was ripe for calling a disarmament conference. Mr. Harding answered that ho favoured the principle, but it. was impossible to move swiftly. The stops taken by America would depend on tho attitude of other Governments.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
