MR A. R. ATKINSON ELECTED PRESIDENT. By Telegraph—Pres* Association. Christchurch, Juno 9. At the Ntw Zealand Alliance Cenvention to-day, Mr. A. R. Atkinson (Wo - lington) was unanimously elected piesiA resolution was carried stating that the conference, hearing of a petition to repeal the prohibition of the liquor traffic in Samoa, would be against any such measure being adopted in view ot the conditions upon which Samoa was handed over to New Zealand The conference expressed tho hope that the New Zealand Government would accept the invitation of the S wiss Government and send an official delegate to the International Congress of Prohibitionists at Lausanne.
