Several British engineering firms have been giving attention to the production of small robust petrol or paraffin engines, specially adapted for agricultural use, or in other situations where expert supervision is not available. In one of the latest British products of this class, separate cooling tanks (which take up a great deal of space and makes the equipment much less portable) are eliminated, and the cooling of the cylinder is effected by means of water in nn extension of the cylinder jacket. No pump, piping, radiator, or other complication is used. A thrce-lior.se powerengine of this type weighs 3821 b., and runs at 600 revolutions per minute. It operates equally well on petrol or paraffin, and is built to give reliable service under the most exacting conditions.
