AN UNIDENTIFIED BODY

WHOSE REMAINS ARE THEY? Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday continued the inquest on the remains found nt Camp Bay on Friday last. It was thought on Monday that the remains were those of Cyril William Thomson, but yesterday’s evidence was against this theory. Senior-Sergeant M’Namara, who appeared for the police, recalled Dr. Henry, who stated that he had made a further examination of the remains by the aid of a better light than he had on the previous occasion, and found that all the teeth but two in the upper jaw had -been stopped) and that four teeth were missing. On the previous day ho had stated that a tooth was broken, but he found on the second examination that it was missing; a stone had found its way into the cavity. There wnrn no wisdom teetn. Eliza Caroline Thomson, wife of Forrester Thomson, New Plymouth, stated that she had examined 'the remains, and wns satisfied that they were not those of her late son Cyril W. Thomson, who had been a member of the crew of the Oraaka when that vessel was wrecked. The whole of her son’s teeth had been stopped, and he had cut two wisdom teeth This was all the evidence the noticn could oifer.

The coroner found that there was no evidence of identification, and that the person to whom the remains had belonged had probably been drowned. Senior-Sergeant M'Namarn stated that a man was drowned off the Maori, and the»e was also the missing dentist.
