WORLD’S ONLY HOPE
RETURN OF CHRIST ADVENT ASSOCIATION’S CONFERENCE There was a crowded attendance in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening on the occasion of the third annual prophetic conference under the auspices of Die Pre-Millennial Advent Association—the New Zealand Association to "propagate the truth of the second coming of Christ.” The Rev. AV. C.- AA illiams, 8.A., president of the association, was in tho chair, and the proceedings were largely of a devotional character. A feature of the evening was the presidential address, in the course of which the speaker emphasised that all the signs of the times were for a personal return of Christ to this earth. The great truth which the conference stood for was the only Scriptural climax which put before us the great purpose which God was going to work „~out through His eternal Son. Some people, added the president, held the erroneous belief that God had handed everything over to the Church until the whole world was brought to tho feet of Christ. AVhat advance, however, had been made in -this direction? In this connection he pointed to what he described as the "rowing evil, Godlessness and carelessness of the vast masses of humanity, and the awful conditions of things in Russia, in Ireland, and, for that matter, throughout the 'whole world. Call it Bolshevism. "Red Fedism,” or whatnot, an awful, subtle, and devilish power was spreading throughout the whole world, exalting itself against the laws of G-od and humanity. The spirit was, he believed, becoming more and more characteristic of the great bulk of professing Christianity. ’The word of God held out to us no other .solution of the present problems of society, and no other hope for the institution of the ideal state of human society, than the personal return of God’s Son to reign over the people of this earth with an iron hand. God would return first of all to receive unto Himself his own chosen, faithful people, •and unite them with Himself in glory, and then return to this earth and rule the sinners with a rod of iron. Ho would reign on the earth until all His enemies were destroyed under His feet and the last enemy to be destroyed was death. During the evening short addresses were also given by. the Rev. AA'. Lamb a.nd Mr. Janies Read. The conference will sit daily until Sunday week, when it will bo brought to a close.
