VICTORY DRIVE
SOME PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
No native trees flourish so well in the Miramar district as the iiohutukawa, the ka.ra.ka, and the ngaio. .f In connection with the improvement of the foreshore between Seatoun and Scorching Bay, a iproposwl has 'been put forward, tha, poliutukawas, which thrive on ozone, should be planted about a chain apart all along the seaward side of the road. AVhilst such a tow of trees would not cut off the seascape, they would bo highly ornamental, especially at the ChristmasNew Year holiday season, when they are in bloom, and would serve as a breakwind in stormy weather. The planting of this foreshore would greatly enhance the beauty of AVcllington’s must popular motor drive. This road is very narrow in places —particularly on that section within tho Government Reserve—and it is not improbable that a proposal will he made in the City Council to round off some of the corners and widen the road at points where two cars are at present unable to pass.
