MR. CLYNES ELECTED LEADER

Mr. J. R. Clynes was elected leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, vice Air. AV. Adamson,. who retired owing to ill-health. The party decided to cooperate with Labour generally in connection with the shootings at Alallow. The debate disclosed the belief that the party was the only effective opposition in tho present Parliament.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
