The Woodville meeting is the attraction for sportsmen to-day. A good card is to be run off, starting at 11.30 a.m. with the Hack Hurdles. The jumpers doing duty are not a particularly gooa lot, and Hautawa, who did not run up to form at Foxton, may be the best. Signysian maywin a race during the meeting, as ne is a good jumper, with plenty of pace. Tommy Rot, the top-weight in the bapli»tr Stakes, is sore,’ and may not start to day. Backsheesh and Toa Taua h av J both got winning form to recommend them, -while Soldier’s Love ran tieH enough at Trentham to give her a chance with such a light weight. Asterina may be a- good favourite in the R.uahine Handicap, but mH also be support for Chimera and B° n “X Briar. The last-named is expected to do well on her home course. The hacks engaged In the Wharit. Handicap are not a good lot. and Strategy mav begin too well for the others. WaiBaby has been galloping well at Awapuni. and is expected to give a good showing. Lovematch may go out the best backed in the Cap field, but the improving Bonnie Heather is sure to trouble her before the post is reached. The form of tho Wairarapa horse at Trentham makes him out to be very useful, taking a line through Warplane. . . , „ The consistent Yankee Dan is to be a runner in the Countv Hack Handicap. Ho mav encounter most opposition from Wamlui. whom he mect= on even terms. Merry J'lecn reads the best of the ligu - V 'Woden nnd Old Gold will have a good following in the Presiacnts Handicap, and Passenger and Earthshine in the Victoria Hack Handicap. . The Hamilton meeting is also down for decision to-day. J. H. Jefferd s pair. Vagabond and Tigritiya. have been sent up to cimtfest the two big events, and bo*h of them are expected to do well. The Oamaru meeting will be opened to-morrow, and concluded on Friday. Amongst the runners in tho two-jcar-old event is K-i Kane. who was recently timed to run a half-mile in something approaching record time at Riccarton. Owners art* piv?n a final reminder triat. entries for both the galloping and trotting events at the Marlborough meeting close to-n : .ght.
