SOUTH PACIFIC ISLANDS
TREATMENT OF COLOURED PEOPLES. Tokio, January 29. Replying to interpellatiojx in the Diet, Baron Uchida stated that negotiations were proceeding with Britain to secure equal treatment of coloured peoples in the South Pacific Islands. The Treaty clauses dealing with the islands south of the Equator have not yet been interpreted. Japan favours a policy to ensure equal opportunity for Japanese and British, and desires to respect the mandate. The administrations eouth of the Equator have not yet been reconciled. —Reuter.
