Wliilst values lor lialfbrcus appreciated from 10 to 15 per cent, over the initial sale, coarse wools showed a. further weakening of from 5 to 10 per cent. Three-quarter-bred wool also eased on previous intcs to tho extent of a halfpenny per lb. New Zealand mills operated splendidly for hallbrcd wool, and this competition, which was absent from the initial sale, established a higher standard of values. Daily in the sale 15UI. was obtained for super halfbml, and. this figuro was frequently approached during the day. Home representatives bid spiritedly for finer grades, but apparently had sharply defined limits which met tho market, more in medium quality than super, the bulk of the latter going to the nulls. Pieces participated iu the firmer demand, fellmonger.s operating freely. A seven-bale lot of Corriedale wool was passed in at 15d.„ and general lots of Down wool were passed at 122 d. Generally the sale was irregular. One lot of coarse crossbred wool was passed at lid., whilst the highest figure recorded for a sold lot was DJd. for foilr bales of hogget wool. On an average, crossbred wool was about one penny per lb. lower than at the initial sale. The top range of prices was as follows: —Super hallbred, laid.; medium, 13d.; super chree-qunrter. 11 Jd.; medium, DM.; super crossbred, 9J<l.; medium, 7J.r1.; first crossbri-d pieces, 13d. j second crossbred assorted pieces, ll}d.
