An interesting gam® of billiards was played nt the -Albert Rooms yesterday between Clark M Conaehy, the New Zealand champion, and IV. N. Tucker, one ot the foremost local amateurs. Tlio game was 2000 up in two sessions of 1000 Ztu, IK n ampiorl wnceded'his opponent half the game, and at the end the scon was: M'Coiucliy, 20C0; Tucker, 1508. In the afternoon the champion made a break of 453 on ® standard table, which is as difficult as any table he will have to play on j n the world's championship. -Ifo also made several breaks of over 150. At the conclusion of the game the manager of Messrs. Alcock and Co. stated that Mr. M'Conachy tyas on the point of leaving for Queensland, India, and Africa on the way to England, where he intended to contest the world's championship, and they would all wish him the best of luck. Mr. M Conaehy had all the qualities that made a billiard champion— 'knowledge, patience, determination, and grit. He had made better breaks in New Zealand than any visiting champion had done, including 741 in Auckland, 500 (unfinished) Wellington. GO4 Lyttelton, 689 Hokitikn. and 014 iiivercargill. His averages, too, in big games on standard tables equalled 'the best put up in different world championships.
