The t';am will an-tfp this evening, ana expect to put up a good tight for the shield. l'he only member of the team who is known to local enthusiasts is P. liootn, who ill tho past has represented Welling' ton on twelve occasions, and was also woll known as the centre-hall' of tho HospitiU Club. SENIOR AND THIRD-CLASS COMPETITIONS CLOSED. The weekly meeting of {he Wellington Football Association was held last nlghillr. W. Auld presided, and members in attendance were llcssrs. A. O'DnscolL A member of the Thorudon Club appeared before the committee to answer charge! of dangerous play, "ghipiiing" the referee and ualng improper luuguage, for which lie liad been ordered off tho field in a cent junior match. The evidence of referee, the player concerned, and members of both teams was heard and considered. The committee expressed regret tfiat a, pTayer had mfacopuueted himself in such, a manner, fapcelatty by making "ate of improper language, anil he was suspended for two mouths from the dato of the ollence. Mr. Webster reported havinc attended an enthusiastic meeting of the Instituu Club players, 'held to consider ways and nieaiiß of liquidating the debt ou -Association Park. He stated that as a result of the meeting 100 or more shares would be taken up in the Park Company. Tho chairman reported similar resulta from the Brooklyn Club'B meeting. General satisfaction was expressed at the result of these and other meetings held, which showed tho loyal manner in which players were rallying round the commi.ttee in Its endeavour to obtain Association Park as a permanent homo of ''Soccer" football. The Povorly Bay Association notitled that its team would arrive in Wellington to-day for the Brown Shield game with Wellington on Saturday. It was decided to entertain the players at the theatro on Friday, night and at dinner on Saturday night. The New Zealand Council notified the appointment of Mr. G. Black, of Christchurch, as referee for the game. Tho Boys' Institute oflercd the use of the tepid baths to tho teams after the game, and the oner was accepted thankfully. II wbb decided to play all fixtures Saturday next from the fourth jrade downwards, Owing to the lateness of tlio season, concern was expressed by the meeting at tho number of games yet to bo played for tlio championship, with all Charity Cup gnmes still unplaced. The mattor was carcfully considered. It w«8 decided to cloße the senior championship and award it to Thistle Club, and commeno the Charity Cup games on August 14. The third class competition was closed, and awarded to Island Bay, Charity Cup games to start 011 the sanio date as tho senior games.
