Christchurch, August 4. At tho Addingtou market to-day there was a big yarding of fat-.stock, thero being a double market in view of the Grand National holidays next week. I'at cattle showed a marked jump in prices on recent 6ales, and sold throughout, for brime sorts, at about £4 per 1001b. The sale was remarkable for a. record Australasian price for a bullock (mi), two local butchers competing. Ho was bred and fattened by ,G. K. W. Trotter, of Kurow, and has been a prolific prize taker in southern shows. He is a purebred Shorthorn and his live weight is 305G1b. An aged purebred white Shorthorn bullock, bred by the Eicoarton Estate, live weight 30521b.. brought ,£97. The yarding of fat cattle included entries from Glen Oroua (Kangitikei), and Balclutha. The mutton yarding included a big proportion of prime quality vendors being represented from the • North Island and the. western districts of Southland. The top price was given for a North Islnnd liomney cross wether (£9 10s.), Southland entries realising up to £G 10s. Store Sheep.—A fairly large entry. The prices, which opened at last week's rates, eased as the sale progressed. Wether hoggets, 225. 7d. to 27e. 5d.; ewe hoggets, 28s. to 31s. Id.; mixed sex ho*gets, 265. Bd. to 295. 2d.; cull hoggets. 19s. to 20s, Od.; good two-tooth wethers, 365. 3d. to 375.; ordinary two-tooth wethers, 275. to 295. Id.; fairly good two, four, .six and eight-tooth owes, 325. Id.; good sound-mouthed ewes, 395. to >Jos. 2d.; sound and : failing-moutlietf ewes, 27s to 325. (Id. - Fat Sheep—A very heavy yarding, values showing an advance on last week's rates. Specially selected prime wethers, f>s-tf> <£9 10s.; extra prime wethers, 60s. to 955.; prime wethers, 475. Gd. to 57s 9d.; ordinary wethers, 395.
