Prices for sheep were a shade lower, but lambs and pij»s were very dear. Fat cattle prices showed a decline of 30s. to 355. a head compared with last .week's rates. There was a largo yarding of store cattle, which included a few pens of bullocks in forward condition. These were disposed of at prices about equal to those which ruled last week. _ Fat Cattle.—A largo yarding, consisting of 245 head. The quality as a whole showed an improvement on last week. Prime heavy weight bullocks made up to .£29 12s. 6d„ prime i 24 to X2G 7s. 6d., lighter sorts from «£l7 10s. to ,£23; extra pnmo heifers, .£2O 10s.; good heifers to -£18 10s.. lighter sorts from ,£ll 19s.' to <£15 10s. Store Cattle—A fair yarding came to hand, and prices were slightly in advance of last week's rates. Steers, two to two and a half years old, in good condition, made from £9 7s. fld. to 10s. Dairy cattle were in keen demand, and extra good cows coming into profit brought from ,£l7 10s. to ,£l9 2s. 6d.; good cows, ,£lO 2s. 6d. to .£]s las.; aged cows, from .65 lis. to <£8 195.; inferior and aged, to .£2 4s. Gd. Fat Sheep.—A large yarding. 2709 being penned. The quality generally was not quite up t 0 last week's standard, and prices suffered owing to lack of outside competition. The market opened at about a shilling a head below last week's rates, and towards the end of the salo receded to fully 3s. a head. Extra prime heavy wethers, to 645. 6d.; prime wethers, to 585.; good wethers, to 515.; lighter sorts, 40s to 485.; extra prime heavy ewes, to 58s. 9d.; prime ewes, to 545.; good ewes, to 455.; lighter sorts, from 30s. Lambs.—A 6inall yarding of IG7 came forward but this proved sufficient for butchers requirements. Prime sort-?, 31s. 3d. to 335. 3d.; medium. 21s, 3d. to 208. Pigs.—A fair yarding of fats and a small yarding of stores. Competition was keen for all classes, and prices showed an advance on last week's high prices. Brime baconers brought from ,£8 Is. to <£13 Is.
