9 — (From Our Own Correspondent.) . Carterton, July 20. The adjourned monthly meeting of the Wairarapa • Electric Poww Board was held at Carterton yesterday, Mr. T. V. Moore (acting chairman) presiding. Mr. Toogcod, engineer, reported that ulere had been soma unavoidable delay in preparing the final report lipoli tlin investigation work. Up to the present there_ was nothing to warrant recommending thei board not to proceed with further investigation. Eegret was expressed at the unavoidable delay of the final report, and the final decision in connection with the'proposed scheme was deferred until next meeting. Mr. Templin, electrical engineer, reported upon the electric portion of the scheme, sUowlng that from turbine shaft to consumer the cost would bo ;£220,025. To this had to bei added the cost of tho hydraulic development. In reply to a question, Mr Templin slated that on tho present estimated cost of plant, etc., the power would be choaper than if purchased from the Government. The Valuation Department wrote intimating that for rating purposes tbe rolls of tho various constituent bodifs would meet requirements. It was reported that a six months' option over a section of land near the Carterton railway station had been sc>cured.
