The boxing contest between Holland and Clabby, which was to have' taken place on Friday night, has been abandoned. The match was originally arranged between TJren and Holland, tho purso being ,£SOO. Uren is suffering from mumps and Olabby was therefore telegraphed and asked if ho wonld meet Holland for XffiO. Clabby telegraphed his acceptance.. This morning Clabby, who arnvSl Inst night, declared he had not been aware that tTren and Holland were to fight for a „£SOO purse, nwl ho declined as a matter of principle to fight for a lesser sum. Both sides aro adamant, so the contest has been abandoned.
Later. It is now stated that G'Vibby, while reiterating his determination not to fight for less than the purso of .£SOO, offered for the Uren-Holland match. int>. mnterl to the executive that he was will nig they should hand -EIOO to any local charitable institution they wished.
