Ltd., was heard by the ; Court of Appeal yesterday. •'ln the Supreme Court' at Auckland j Mrs. Keadford, asjho widow of a water-side-worker who had-been killed while ;'working on the s.s. Ayrshire, sought to .recover from A. H. Nathan, Ltd., the ', sum of .£2OOO as damages. A jury found • that the plaimtiff was entitled to .£IBOO. '- The defendant moved for a nonsuit. His Honour held that there was no evidence of negligence on the part of the de. fendant, and that the statutory regulai; tjons as to removal of hatches and the lighting of hatchways were, in part .at any rate, complied, with, while if, ihere 'was any non-complianco it was not such as to affect the defendant, as the ship- ;' owner, with statutory liability. Ho : therefore granted the nonsuit.
