. « .. ALTERATION IN NICENE CREED RECOMMENDED. London, July i. There was a great function at Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday,, when the Primate, seated in St. Augustine's chair, received three hundred Archbishops and Bishops attending the Lambeth Conference A great service was held to-day in Westminster Abbey, attended by reprcsentatives of the Greek, American, and Oversea Dominion churches. Tho Primate was the-celebrant. Dean Ryle delivered_ a characteristic Broad Church sermon, in which he advocated the admission of women to active participation in church services, and stronalv urged the re-union of believers in the essential doctrine of incarnation. Ho recommended a conference to alter one word of tho Nicene Creed to make it rend "I believe in one holy Catholic Apostolic Church," thereby reproducting the pre-Reforma-tion formula.—Aus.-N.Z.
