WAIRARAPA NOTES
At the meeting of the Claims Board of tho Wai.rarapa Patriotic Association this week, it was decided to pay the flint half-year's rent-on behalf of a soldier taking up land, and to grant a, loan of ,£3OO to enable a soldier ta stock his farm. The sum of JJIOO was advanced to an applicant to enable him to purchase a dwelling. A sotdior desiring to complete tho purchase of stock was advanced and another soldier was granted -C2OO to enable Mm to complete tho purchase of a property.' A meeting of the local branch of the Farmers' Union was held at Grey town on Saturday, Mr. P. Morison presiding. Mr. H. .Tilyard presented a report on the recctit Provincial Conference-at Feii'.ding, and was accorded a vote of thanks.
Messrs. A. T. Beake, M.R.C.V.S.; and F. E. Ward, Government .Agricultural Instructor, will deliver lectures at the Pihautea Soldiers' Settlement on' Monday. The follo'-viiiL' day Mr. Ward will hold a fanners' "held day" at Ekotahuna,
