MANAWATU V. WELLINGTON.
During the woek-end a team of fourteen players from Wellington Club tried conclusion with the Mauawatu Club at Pal; merston North. The links were in very fair order, but tho weather was most unpronltlouß, showers falling frequently, making matters very unpleasant and delaying the play. The Wellington team in spite of being two of its best players short, was .a fairly' strong combination. However, the Manawatu put up a very good record, winning the singles by eight lames to six,, and the four-ball by six games to one. Great interest was taken. In the (fame between A. Duncan (Wellington) and A. Barraud. Manawatu'B scratch man. Neither of the contestants, however, waß in (rood form, and at tinieß both of them played faultily. The contest, however, waß a close one, the Wellington man winning, by two up and one to play. Tho following are details of the play : — Singles: A. Barraud (II.) lost to Duncan (W.). E. G. Sim (M.), lost to A. Abbott (W.).-A. Esktedt (IT.) beat K. Duncan TW.), H. Hutchison (if.) halved with P. B. Oooke (W.). A. D, Selfert (IT.) beat H. P. Blundell (W.), H. 1; ! Young (M.) halves with R. B. Cooke (W.kW. Selfert (If.) beat A. E. Whyte (W.), P. 0. Preet (If.) halved with E. W. Kirkby (W.). A: Straw; (M.) lost to J. li. Stout (M.), W. L. Fitzherbert (M.) halved with G. O. Sutton (W.), D. G. Moore (M.) beat E. W. Oardale (W.), E. G. Moore (M.) beat J. G. Peacock (W.). L. M. Abraham (M.) lost to A. Solanders (W.), P. J. Newenham (M.) beat W. E. Fussell (W.).

The best Bcores put up against the .Wellington team were:'A. Ekstedt, who went round in 77 in the Bingleß, and Walter Belfert, who registered 78 in the four-ball competition.
