A loading import and- indent' house, representing several English boot manufacturers, cabled last week to their London agents to ascertain the state of tho market,, in view of tho cablegrams recently published from England and America as to the reported reduction in prices owinj; to tho widespread newspaper campaign, and a reply has just come to hand which states that eight of the agencies, giving their names, in Northampton, Leicester. Norwich, and Stafford, quote prices without any change, from those, at whioh goods were invoiced four months ago.. Two agencies—men's work—quote prices advanced s.per cent.; one firm—men's good grade, work, Northampton, and one Stafford high-class work—each quote an. ndvance of 15 per cent.
