MASTERTON A. & P. SOCIETY

By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. • Master.ton, December 13. The monthly meeting of the general committee of tho Jfasterton A. and PAssociation, was held to-day. I'rior to the transaction of general business the chairman, Mr. W. Perry, moved that tho association place on record its appreciation of the splendid work the late Mr., J. Strang,. patron, had done on .behalf of the association and that a letter of condolence bo forwarded to the relatives of the late Mr. Strang. Mr. Perry spoke in eulogistio terms of services the late Mr. Strang ltatl rendered tho association, especially in regard to tho purchase of tho new show grounds. 'Docoased hful been tho backbone of the association. Mr. J. C. M'Killop, in seconding the motion, spoke in a similar strain. The motion was carried in silence, -all members standing. A letter was received from Dr. Rcakes, of tho Agricultural Department, stating that in accordance with tho association's suggestion lie was negotiating to placo an agricultural instructor in the district. It was decided to repjy to Dr. Reakes thanking him for his efforts and pointing out the urgency of the need. . It -was decided to. writo to tho nawera A. and P. Society asking them to avoid if possible the. clashing of date 9 between their show aud tho local association's show.

'It.was resolved to send a letter of thanks to Messrs. J. B. Cruiekshauk and T. Wagg for their assistoi\co to canvassing committees. ! Notices of resignation' were received from Sir James Wilson, Messrs. M'Leod and Young, F. Jolinnsen, G. W. Hart, J. Horton and J. ,ludd. Mr. H. Morrison moved that in recognition of tho activities of Sir James Wilson in regard to agricultural matters it be a recommendation to the annual meeting to make Sir James a lifo honorary member of the association; ' ■
