THE NAVAL VISITORS
FAREWELL TO NEW ZEALAND. His Excellency the Governor-General has received the following message from Admiral of tho Fleet, Viscount Jellicoe, on his departure from the Dominion :-- "On behalf of those on board H.M.S. New Zealand I beg to thank Your Excellency for your very kind message of October 1. On leaving New Zealand 1 would ask Tour Excellency to convey to the. people of this great Dominion the deep gratitude of all ranks and ratings of H.M.S. New Zealand for the magnificent reception which they have accorded to those whose pride it is to man the gift ship of tho Dominion. The warmhearted hospitality, tho true friendliness shown to us, and the manner in which the. people have worked to make our stay pleasant, have touched us all very deeply, and we leave tbefe shores with the greatest regret, and with the feeling iTi.it we leave behind us many real friends."
The following telegram was sent by the Prime Minister to Admiral Viscount .Tellicoo, H.M.S. New Zealand, Auckland, on Friday:—
"On the eve of your departure from New Zealand I. desire, on behalf of my colleagues and myself, to sny what a great pleasure it has l>een to the Dominion to have yourself ami Lady Jcllicoo and also your good ship with her officers and men with us. General regret is shared by a large section of tho community that time and cironmntiinces d'd not permit of 11.M.5. New Zealand visiting more of our ports, t ■Irust, Jiow. over, that you have all enjoyed your stay whilst among us, and T send you' oiti best wishes for a pleasant and 'successful journey during the remainder of year important voyage." Tho following reply was received from Admiral Viscount Jellicoe by tlia Prr.v.e Minister:—
"AVc deeply appreciate the kind manage you transmit on behalf of vour colloagues and yourself. All on board H.M.S. New Zealand are niost grateful for the great kindness and hospitalit, received whilst in the Dominion, and we can never forget either the Dominion or its warm-hearted inhabitant*. Our only regret on leaving is that circumstances did not. iiermit of our setiiiß more of New Zealand."
The captain and officers of H.M.S. New Zealand- sent the following message to Iho Prime Minister:—
"Captain and officers of H.M.S. Now Zealand thank you for your kind uiescago on behalf of the Govermiient, and bog you will convey to them our heartfelt thanks for their share in making our visit one of the happiest episodes of our lives. Kia Ora."
