MARIST BROTHERS' OLD BOYS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The annual goneral meeting of tho Marist Brothers' Old Boya' Association was held last evening in the Marist School, Tasman Street, the president of the association (Mr. L. Sievers) presided, and there was a fair muster of members.
The annual report stated that tho matter of obtaining club rooms was considered during the year, but owing to tho unfavourable conditions prevailing and tho insufficiency of finance the matter was allowed to remain in abeyance. But as the association was now in a fairly good position financially, it was strongly recommended that tho incoming executivo should give tho question serious consideration. In the 1917-18 season the association was represented by a team in the junior and third grade cricket. Tho junior learn wero ninners-up in the championship, being beaten by a team which had been in the previous year's senior competition. I'or tho season just ended tho association was represented by a junior and third grado team, tho junior team being third and tho third grade toam runners-up in their respective competitions. In the 1918 Soccer football season, the association entered teams in the senior, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade. Tho senior team suffered defeat in tho championship iinal. Tho third jjrade team were runners-up in tho championship and Charity Cup competitions, and were winnors of the six-a-sido competition. Tho fourth A grado team wore runnors-up in the championship and third in the Charity Clip. Tho fourth B team ployed off three times for tho Charity Cup, and wero defeated in tho third game. Tho fifth A grade team were third in tho championship and runners-up in the Charity Cup. With respect to the finances, the year cuminenced with liabilities amounting to. .L'l6 Is. 7d. This amount had been liquidated during tho year, and there was now a credit balanco of 4157 Is. 3d.
The president, ih moving the adoption of the report, congratulated tho members on tho fact that the past year was a must successful one in every respect. Tho membership had increased, mid the finances wore sound. In the sports section tho association hid done very well. He thought that tho time had arrived when the association should make great progress. The war was now over ami most of their members who had gone to the front had returned 'or were returning shortly, and .these men would again tako their places iu the association. Tho report and balance-sheet wore adopted.
The election of officers resulted as follows;— Patrons, Their Graces Archbishops Redwood and O'Shea; vicepatrons, Brothers Louis and Kiisobius; president, Mr. L. Sievcrs; vice-presidents,, about fifty who held office last yearwero re-elected, and tho executive was given power to add to the number; secretary, Mr. L. Harvey; assistant secretary, Mr. P. Burton; treasurer, Mr. J. llaydou; executive, Messrs. 1?. Ferris, G. Davis, H, D. Hickey, H. MarshalJ, H, Hayes, .1. Devlin, W. P. LoTmon, W. P. Gamblo; auditors, Messrs, I'. D. HoskTns and H. M'lCeowu.
