LONG SERVICE MEN
ALLOWANCE ON DISCHARGE. The question is soon to arise as to whether any recognition of service abroad is to be given to soldiers on their discharge from the forces when they return to this country. All men will be given a month's leave with pay on discharge, but it is possible, even probable, that the long-service men will bo given something more. As to what form the recognition of their service will take, the authorities have not yet made tin their minds. A ecieme may be devised by which men with long service may on discharge receive some benefits which will be of permanent value to them when they resume their civil life. ■
