SOME RESTRICTIONS REMOVED. Sir .Tomes Allen, Minister of Defence, stilted Oii Saturday:— 'Die Naval Adviser to the New Zealand Government, advises me that (he Admiralty, under date of November 11, lias intimated that the censorship lestrictioiis are b jjc coiiipKlely removed forthwith concerning the publication in the Press nntl elsewheru of the sailing dates and itineraries of merchant vessels. All restrictions on commercial cables dealing with th 2 dates, movements, and itineraries of all merchant ships whersoevcr proceeding, are likewise to he free of the same restrictions. The Naval Adviser points out that "troopships are not included in the tei'in 'merchant vessels'" and also that the inetnietion with regaVd to commercial cables must not be considered as applying to the censorship of wireless messages, which is conducted on ?. different basis from that of oab!c messages. The Chief of the General Staff is being informed as necessity. The Postniaster-tJji'.eral (Sir Josoph Ward) announce!, that the censorship having been removed from cable messages confirming the publication in the Press or elsewhere of sailing dates and Hid itinerary of merchant ships wheresoever proceeding, or otherwise dealing with the movements of ships, such messages m,iy bo freely lodged, subject to any restrictions necessary to be imposed on' the dispatch of cable messages by the shortness of stail caused by the prevailing epidem'.c. Existing restrictions on information concerning the movements and positions of troopships and war vessels are maintained in tneir entirety.
