TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION
At the monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the Wellington Typographical Union, held on Saturday evening, the matter of New Zealand .employers advertising in Australia for workmen to .come to the Dominion at rates of wages in excess of those paid to New Zealanders was discussed at fiomo. length.. Eventually the following motion was carried unanimously:—"That the board of tho Wellington Typographical Union calls attention to the fact that owing to the action of tho master printers of New Zealand, employees are held to their particular employers, and cannot leave to go to another employer for higher wages (which are advertised locally), whilo at , tho- Same time printers' employees are being advertised for in Australia to come to New Zealand and work for higher wages than are being paid to local workmen, who cannot leavo New Zealand, in .order to secure higher rates paid in Australia." A Dominion conference of all printing trades unions is to bo held shortly to consider this and other matters. / . ■
