SOLDIER ATHLETICS

Cl CAMP SPORTS

Postponed from Tuesday Inst owing to the bad weather conditions, tlie Cl Gamp sports were proceeded with en Thursday, in sunny though windy weather. The camp held holiday, and all woro present except those dntv men who could not. possibly bo spared. The attendance from outside was sparse, no doubt owing to the counter-attraction of the Masterton races. . The day's events'unearthed considerable talent, noticeably in long-distance running, B Company in particular shining in that direction. The Sports Committee worked efficiently, and put the programme through in good time. The Ci Band played during tlie day. In the evening a concert provided liy the Cl Vaudeville Company wound.up the day. It had been intended to hold this concert out of doors around a huge bonfire, but the gusty weather made this inadvisable. The various events had substantial prizes attached to them,.and in addition points (three for first, two for second, and one for third) counting for the competition for the Glaxo Cup (presented by Messrs. Nathan and Co.). In all probability sports will be held from time to tini'o, as it is found that these contests, help materially in the training scheme of this camp. Lieutenant Brown acted as director of sports, and fulfilled the duties in an able manner.
