FOREST FIRES IN AMERICA
12,000 REFUGEES FROM THE DEVASTATED REGION. i New York, October 14. Twelve thousand refugees have nrrivecl in Duluth from tho districts in which tho forest fires arc raging, and more than <i hundred bodies. Several lowiis were wiped out. Men, women, and children died in tho (lames within a" short distance of the special rescue trains as the fire swept forward .in tho strong wind. Tho property loss amounts to millions of dollars. Twenty-0110 towns were wiped out by tho forest fires in Minnesota. The death-roll is 298, and hundreds liave been injured. An immense amount of property was lost—Aus.-N.Z.' Cablo Assn.
