It will he remembered that; in lighting about Motcrcn somo of our noncommissioned officers and men from an Kntreiiehing Uattalion, who went bravely into the fight, wore cut oil'. It was supposed at the time that many wore Hindu prisoners, and this was afterwards conlirmcd. I have- now seen a letter from If. 11. Hansen, one of the prisoners, written to the officer commanding tlio Entrenching Group on April 20, and received hero on August 0. Hansen' refers to their misfortune at being taken prisoner of wur, and though he cannot say, in the letter how it all happened,. lie assures his late commanding oflieer that tVy stuck it out as long as possible. ... Ho forwards a roll of the captured men, as lie is anxious that letters and parcels should bo forwarded to them, especially parcels. At the tirao of writing he did not know what their address would be. The commandant lias replied, telling the boys to be of good cheer and not to worry, as all knew they had fought well.
