TRAM AND BUS STRIKE IN LONDON
GREAT INCONVENIENCE CAUSED. London, August 19 London is practically without ompibuses, and in tho western suburbs no trams are running. It is estimated that' fourteen thousand strikers aro out, and. tho strike is causing serious inconvenience to munition workers, viio are compelled to walk. The London County Council trams are running -Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
ABORTIVE NEGOTIATIONS. (Kec. August 20, 11.30 p.m.) London, August 19. Sir George Askwith (Industrial Commissioner) conferred with the bus strikers' representative and the. employers without result. Development f)ro expected on Wednesday, when V.ie Transport Workers' Federation wjl" confer with the vehicle workers. The dispute is spreading. The tram and bus employees in many .of the South Coast resorts have struck, and there aro strikes also at Bristol nnd Bath.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
