U-BOATS OFF AMERICA
STORY OF SHORE VISITS. (Rec. August 20, 8.15 p.m.) Ottawa, August 19. The New York "Times" Washington correspondent states that the captain of a vessel which was sijnk by a U-boat is positive that he saw the petty officor of the U-boat which sunk his vessel. He reported tho fact to tho Navy Department. He says that the petty officer recognised him and promptly disappeared. The Navy officials admit that it would be possible for U-boat sailors to land at night. Tho correspondent says ho has positive information that there aro three U-boats in American waters, beginning a U-boat campaign in America for tho "second time.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable A6sn.
