BUTTER IN LONDON

0 PROFITS ON THE SALE. The Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies (the Hon. D. H. Guthrie) is to meet on Tuesday the members of the Dominion Butter Committee.for the purpose of discussing with them the distribution of profits accruing from the sale of butter in London which has been bought in this country by the Imperial Government. There will admittedly be some profits made on this butter, but the question of how those profits are to be distributed, if they are to be distributed at all, is not quite easy. For instance, it could scarcely be contended that all the profits should be taken by the people exporting butter, to the exclusion of those less fortunate other people supplying the local market at a price of Is. sd. per lb. wholesale. The question may be raised also as to whether it will not be possible to extend the scheme to cover the exporters of cheese and other milk products.
