■ « .TEST, ITEMS-SELECTED. A meeting of the executive 41 council of the Wellington Competitions Society was held last evening, Mr. J.' H. Helliwell presiding. Sir Kooert Stout, the ilon. T. 11.. "Wilford, the Hon. J. A. Hanan, and Mr. W. Simm wrote accepting the office of vice-presidents. Considerable' difficulty lias been experienced in arranging a supply of music in the tost items. ■ This has now been overcome, and tho following selection passed:—Vocal: Soprano, "Message of Love"; mezzo-so-prano, "Magdalen at St. Michael's Gato"; contralto, "Sink, lied Sun"; tenor, "Who is Sylvia?"; baritone, "Tho Blind Ploughman"; bass, "She Alono Charmeth my Sadness." Boys' son?, "Homo Bells are Hinging"; girls'' song, "Wait." Girls (16 to 2i), "String of Pearls." Piano solos, under 10, "Danse des Sylphes"; 10-13, "Hnmorcsko"; 13-16, "Told at Sunset'"; 15-18, "Homancein I" minor"; 18-21, "Prelude in C sharp minor"; any age, "Etude is E Major." Open class, "Ballade in A flat." It was resolved that in' all vocak and instrumental duets the selection should be own choice. The test items in the elocutionary section were then considered and adopted.' Ladies' recitations, "The Chambered Nautilus," "KesMctert," "Borri-bocila-Glin." Gentlemen: "'Bnnncrnum Eode the Grey," "Restricted," "The Cane-bottomed Chair," Shakespearean "Wolsey's Pall," Shakespearean Indies "Hermion's Defence." Girls, 16-21, "Slionvbo.d"; 12-16, "Hundreds of Yenrs Ago"; .9-12, "Queen Mab"; under 9, "A Piittcm Child." Boys, 12-16, "The Terrible Ball"; 9-12, "Tho Lamp-lighter": under 9, "Tommy's- Dreadful Dream." ladies' test, "Which Plinll it Be?" and test for gentlemen, " Matri Dilectissimae." •
