A BIGAMOUS MARRIAGE
WOMAN ADMITS CHARGE. A charge ,of Laving, entered ''nto a bigamous marriage on' February 22 last was admitted by a woman named Margaret Jakeman at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. .The information against accused was 'that, being married to Thomas Henry Jakemnn, she did go through-a form of marriage with one Robert Cameron on February 22, 1918, while the said Thoniiie Tleiiry Jakeman was still alive. Mr. F. V. Frazjr, S.M., heard the case. '•Chief Detective Boddani prosecuted, and Mr. If. F. O'Lwiry appeared for accused. , In outlining iho facts, Chief Detective Tioddam snid the. accused was married to Thomas Henry Jakenian in August. 190*, at Granity, on the West Coasl. Tho partics lived together until 1911, when.on ■account of some family disagreement they separated. . On February 22 last aceiirspd went through a form of man'iogei with Rolwrt Cameron at the Regislrar's Office; Wellington, and when arrested by Detective-Sergeant Cox she admitted the fuels.
Kvidence was called to the effect that accused had told friends she had not seen or heard of her first husband for over eight years, and thought it was perfectly legal to marry again. There was one child of the first marriage.

It was owing to ill-treatment that she had left her first husband. '■Accused pleaded Riiilty and was cornmilled to the Supreme 'Court for sentence. Bail was allowed in (he sum of .£25. . ■ ■
