QUEENSLAND TOWNS WRECKED
NINE PEOPLE KILLED AND MANY. INJURED

The cyolone' completely destroyed Babindaand almost demolished the town of Cairns. The damage done was colossal. All telegraphic communication with the north has been cut off.

Further reports of Sunday's cyclone stato that Innisfail, formerly called Geraldton, was completely wrecked, practically every house in the district being demolished. Eight peoplo were killed and many were injured. Gordonvale, Atherton, and other places near Cairns wero seriously damaged. Large numbers of people are 'homeless. Owing to the disorganisation of communication it is impossible to ascertain the full extent of the disaster.-rPress Assn.
IBabinda is a small township _on Weinert's Creek, in a district mainly devoted to sugar-growing, 36 miles from Cairns. Cairns is a seaport and municipal town on Trinity Bay, 990 miles north-west of Brisbane. It possesses one of the finest harbours in Queensland. It is tho shipping port and centre of the banana, timbers sugar, and maize trade of North Queensland. The population of the town and district is 11,189. Innisfail is a small township on the Johnstoiie River, and has a population of about 400.]
