The general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., yesterday received a cable message from London advising that tho Board of Directors had declared an interim dividend for the halfyear to September 30 laet at the rate of 12 per cent, per annum, which will be paid in the Dominion on January 5. A little pig iron is now coming to New Zealand from India, and some sheet iron has, according to an exchange, recently reached Duneain from America, There seems to ho also a disposition on the part of the Imperial authorities to liberate for tho market a limited quantity of sheets and plates. The position of tho ironmasters in Otago -is therefore somewhat eaeler than it was in regard to material. Enough supplies are coming to hand to keep them going in iron. But prices are very high, and they fluctuate from week to week, it being impossible to fix tho market quotations, titeel, is as scarce as ever, and contracts arc being delayed for want of this material.
