TROUBLESOME HIATUS
WAITING FOR ALLOTMENTS,
"A proportion of our claims," states the Wellington War Relief Association in its annual report, "is represented by applications from the dependants or a soldier immediately subsequent to bis entering camp, when there is a temporary cessation of income, usually combined with an increased expenditure. "The soldier finds it necessary to provide himself with additional equipment, and the cost trenches largely upon his first military pay. If he makes an allotment 'from date,' the allottee must wait for a period of approximately four to five weeks beforo receipt or warrant for the allotment and allowances; consequently the dependants may find themselves for a 6iiort period without any funds. "Certain representations dealing witli this questions will bo submitted by your executive to the Hon. Minister of "Defence prior to the mobilisation ot the first draft of the Second Division.
